As 2017 comes to a close, we wanted to take the time to thank you for all of your ongoing support and to reflect on what has been our most successful Lebanese Film Festival editions yet.
From hosting Lebanon’s most iconic actresses, Julia Kassar, for our main event in August which saw 400 attendees in total for the screening of Solitaire (Mahbas) - to wrapping up our final event of the year in the Southern Highlands on 9 December at Artemis wines – the Lebanese Film Festival is proud to have entertained 3,400 people this year.
Over the course of the year, we screened 35 Lebanese, Australian and international films screened across Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Adelaide and the Southern Highlands.
Julia Kassar spent over a week with the LFF team, attending our Opening Night with Festival Patron, Bryan Brown, and presenting two screenings of Solitaire (Mahbas) and Tramontane. As part of our Schools Program, Julia Kassar also visited Saint Charbel’s College and showcased her work and addressed the students. We really look forward to seeing more of Julia's work to come!
We would like to congratulate our Festival Patron and Australian film industry icon, Bryan Brown, on being awarded an Honourary Doctorate from Western Sydney University for his contribution to film, but particularly for his contribution to Western Sydney. Bryan has been a strong supporter of the Lebanese Film Festival from the outset, particularly for its contribution to the cultural dynamic of Bankstown and the Western Sydney region.
I personally wish to thank each and every one of our sponsors, volunteers and attendees who made this year such a great success. Particular thanks goes to the Committee, Jessica, Priscilla, Julia, Angela and Matt and our judges, Ed Hanna and Elias Doummar, who put in countless hours over the year to make the Lebanese Film Festival the success it has become.
The team will now begin planning the seventh Lebanese Film Festival to take place in Sydney from Friday 17 August to Saturday 1 September 2018, followed by events across Australia - save the dates!
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2018.
Sincerely,

Camille Lattouf
Director, Lebanese Film Festival
