Julia Kassar announced as LFF 2017 guest

The Lebanese Film Festival team is pleased to announced Julia Kassar as the Special Guest of the St.George Bank Lebanese Film Festival 2017.

Julia Kassar is a prominent Lebanese actress who has played a number of significant film and theatre roles, forging a strong profile across the Arab world. In the LFF 2017 program, she features in Solitaire, Tramontane and Single Married Divorced II.

Julia graduated with a Diploma of Dramatic Arts from the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University (1987) and a Master of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts at the University of the Holy Spirit (2007).

Julia has featured in a number of LFF films in previous years, most recently in the LFF 2016 opening night film, Congratulations.

In Lebanon, Julia is a television presenter and anchor on a number of cultural programs. She also continues to teach Drama within the Department of Theatre in the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University, teaching since 1998.

Julia is one of the great contemporary contributors to Lebanese film making, television and theatre. She was a vice-president and treasurer of the Syndicate of Lebanese Actors in Radio, Television, Cinema and Theatre between 2002-2006. In 2017 she was part of the judging panel of the Tripoli International Film Festival in North Lebanon.

– Best Leading Actress for ‘Congratulations’ (Carros Film Festival, France, 2016)

She has also been widely awarded for her many roles in threatre.

Julia will arrive in Sydney in time for the Lebanese Film Festival Opening Night on Friday, 25 August 2017 at the Bryan Brown Theatre. Audiences will have the opportunity to meet Julia at the screenings of Solitaire and Tramontane on Thursday night, 31 August at The Theatre in Bankstown Sports.
