Synopsis

1983 war-torn Beirut, a seven-year-old boy wanders through his fractured city as the Civil War unfolds around him, painting drab walls with colourful art, escaping war’s depravity. Into this hellscape arrives the animated Grendizer superhero robot, the much longed for outsider saviour, he helps Jeem escape reality until the fragile peace unravels, and he must return home to face his greatest fear. With a soaring musical score by Father September, this is an homage to an early style manga popular with generations of Middle Easterners, and a testament to the extraordinary power of imagination as an act of hope and survival.
