Synopsis

A film that deals with the Lebanese ‘Mawwal’, traditional songs sometimes described as “The Lebanese Blues”. And if anyone has earned the right to sing The Blues, it’s the people of Lebanon!

A song style directly linked with the Lebanese soul and their relationship to the land. A relationship manifested by the story of Nader, a young man in his twenties, and Abu Melhem Al-Turathi, a man in his sixties, as they spend time together.

A poignant clash between the old world and new, as a spiritual batten is passed from one to the other.

Screening: Sunday, 28 August 2022, 2.45pm — Bankstown Arts Centre
